Self Heal
Six years later and the art college journey completes and simultaneously begins. I have learned as much about myself, my passions and my insecurities as I have about how to create art.
This Final Major Project has helped me to stick to one idea and execute a related body of work. This skill will be intrinsic to my professional practice as I generate ideas on an industrial scale which can leave me in a state of perpetual experimentation, never reaching the terminus.
In these last few months I have had to be ruthless in deciding what would work and what will not. I had initially thought that I would make an installation as I figured that my message was the main reason for creating the work. However, upon reflection, I realised that my painting would suffer as a consequence of these choices.
As part of the installation I wanted to create a 1920's kitchen, with sound and moving images, paintings. I began a prototype of the stories, which are still very much in draft mode! I will take this idea forward into the next project but I did not have the time to do the paintings or the film justice.
It wasn't the last chance saloon as my work will always have nature and people at its heart as my website name suggests www.socialandearthartivism.co.uk
So, I will continue to develop ways of making art that does not cause further harm to the earth and create art that sooths my soul and celebrates the rich diversity of life and culture on this planet.
