"Being the daughter of a miner made me want to see in the dark. I would like to bring what has been in the dark into the light."
Projects
I have been in an arts education since 2016. Some of the video performances are part of earlier works. I felt simultaneously comfortable and vulnerable in performance and it somehow seemed a necessary form to explore. Currently, I have shifted my focus to develop my painting skills using non toxic materials where possible.
My story
"I grew up in the 70's on a council estate.
It was magical, an ancient mound, surrounded by nature.
I spoke with faeries at the tadpole pond and looked for them in the foxgloves.
ran from goblins in the forest with the sinking sand.
made villages on waste land, served fish and chips made from stones.
saw the unicorn keeping the grass down in my garden.
picked the dandelion once and never wet the bed!
rode through cobbled lanes on my invisible horse.
Dreamed vividly
of aborigines
'borrowed' cups of sugar
pinched flowers from proud gardens,
smoked cigarettes at 9
and told the story of my village"
